History from 1969
1969 Bengt Hildemar starts his haulage business. The Company was reorganised into its current form in 1990.
Up to 1990, the Company was a pure haulage firm, starting with just one vehicle driven by Bengt Hildemar himself. The number of vehicles gradually increased in the 1980s. The principal customer during these years was ASG Domestic.
1990 BHT became contractor for ASG International, involving terminal operations and distribution + collection of goods within Greater Stockholm. At that time, the Company had 16 employees and 7 vehicles. Turnover for
1990-91 was SEK 7 million.
1995 The next major step came in September 1995 when BHT won, via ASG, a new major customer contract (IKEA) – which led to the doubling of both the number of employees and the number of vehicles.
1998 BHT moved to new premises located at Kungens Kurva further to taking over the IKEA business with a direct contract. More staff were employed, including a customer group for IKEA-related administration.
2000 Parts of operations were moved to a northern depot in Rotebro.
2001 The IKEA operations are at their peak, with 100 employees and 96,000 consignments per year. BHT now uses 9 vehicles for goods via its own terminal. Considerable business from DHL and a number of other forwarding agents.
2002 The IKEA contract is taken over by another IKEA company and BHT becomes subcontractor to Poståkeriet AB, who had a contract for the whole of Sweden. Goods started to be order-picked in Torsvik, which implied the need for less surface and fewer employees at the terminal. The southern terminal was moved to Sköndal in the autumn of 2002.
2006 The IKEA business came to an end for the Company, and all operations were moved to Sköndal. New major customers included Green Cargo (clothes consignments), BSH white goods, with intermediate storage and distribution – as well as Poståkeriet with distribution within Greater Stockholm.
2007 The Company continued its restructuring with smaller storage and more haulage assignments. New customers included Coop-Bro, and Nils Hansson Åkeri AB in Eskilstuna.
2009 Bengt Hildemar Transport celebrated its 40-year anniversary, and moved to a newly built warehouse in Länna.
